I can't say Japanese food is the best. Yet if I you feed me Japanese food every day, I would be happy to be your slave.
Lots of good food counter in Japap but I just managed to capture a few occasions. Why? Food was too good I forgot to take pictures. No kidding. This is the first fish market we visited.
Fishes and unknown stuff ... I would say that must be sea food.
King Crab. One of Hokkaido's 3 specialty crabs - King, Queen, Hairy Crabs.
That is probably hairy crab.
Holly monster scallops. What is the difference? Size.
The famous Hokkaido whatever shrimp (sorry, don't know the name in English)
Tunna and octopus on sale.
Toro, or fatty Tuna, is the best part of a Tuna fish. Look at the marble ... I wanna bite!
¥5000 for the portion on the right.
Wonder if the middle finger of Mr. Octopus is included in the deal.
The famous Hokkaido King Crab, live!
Lunch included in the deal. Looks good but doesn't taste as good.
This is self-paid portion. Scallop, sea urchin and some shell fish. Good!
Sabu sabu (hot pot) is the theme. The holy monster scallop is self-paid.
Monster scallop. ¥3800.
It's the first time I use scallop to fill my stomach. I ensure you, it's a sensational.
Can you not get hungry forever with such an array of food?
Check out the prcing of food in a mall restaurant.
Raman shop, yes, Raman is noodle.
It's ALL Raman. In Japan, you go to Raman shop for Raman, Shushi shop for Shushi, Sabu sabu shop for Sabu sabu. You don't get a one-stop shop for food.
BBQ Pork Raman and dumpling. But sadly, not delicious.
Raman chef. How come he looks as handsome as my dad?
At nite, after hot spring bath, a late snack at a Izakaya.
A Izakaya is a place for a drink, food supplied. Remeber, order a drink the first thing you sit down or waiters sort of ignore you.
Holy shashimi! ¥3680.
BBQ scallop ¥600
Shashimi don (rice). I don't think that could put a lot of weight on me. So, eat!
Eat, eat, eat!
QQB crab cap. The egg inside is the climax.
On to another climax. Kubi beef!
Every delivery comes with a certificate.
Wa! ¥6500 a piece, 200g.
This is A3 grade Kubi. A1-A5, A5 being the highest. But don't take it wrong, you may not want A5 as it only means excessive fat.
Tour guide said it would be too fatty above A3, so here we are. Wa!
Comment: really tasty beef but it's kind of greasy. Maybe I should have tried A1.
In a local market.
Imagine your teeth sinking into that piece of scallop...
Mr. Chef was showing the 2.5kg King Crab that would turn into Shashimi in 20 mins. ¥20,000.
Overwhelming visual impact.
A bunch of grape. I wondered, am I distroying it putting that into my mouth? Comment after: tastes ok, just ok, but for the price paid, can get a lot of other very good shashima. Thus, low price performance.
The rest of the crab BBQed. Tasty.
How big is the crab?
Mother disguised as a giant fly with the cap of the crab.
Abalone shashimi. Well, rather have it cooked. Raw abalone all cramps up and gets really tough. Plus the teste is not interesting. Nice try.
Top up with a bowl of shashimi don. Akagai seems salty by itself but it's essential lubricant and moisturizer in a shashimi don. Uni's flavor needs to be activated by water.
THE famous Hokkaido shrimp. 1500 for three. The best part of it is not the body, it's the brain + body. Very high price performance.
Size reference. And worship before eat.
A visit to a #1 chain Raman shop. This is what I call a decent serve of Sapporo beer.
Everything on the table, nice and neat.
This is no background musie. The white color bone soup is a must for a good bowl of raman.
