To
wrap up my lychee trip log. Here are a few PICs that I took from
the coach along the highway between DG and HK. Just to give you
a brief idea of how mainland China looks like.
| Although
lots of Guangzhou cities are developed, there are plenty
of agricultural activities outside of big cities. |
Ok, a few quick
facts:
1) Guangdong is the province just above HK
2) Guangdong's capital is Guangzhou, which is about 150 miles
North of HK
3) Shenzhen is the city just above HK (there is still strict
border control even after 1997)
4) the major highway runs from Guangzhou to Shenzhen was built
only about 5 years ago.
5) DG is 40 miles South of Guangzhou
This
is what villages look like in a developed province. China
may claim herself to be a 3rd world country, but not this
part of the country. |
Agriculture
still depends very much on human. Automation is too
expensive. |
These
are construction workers from the big North. They are
still living on $50 a month. Their provided
residence is ... the simplest. |
Gee,
these rich village people must be communicating with
Martians. |
Village
people benefit from foreign investments, mainly factories,
into their native land. Local government distribute rent
and tax collected among the villagers. Some of them get
REALLY rich. |
Banana
crop beside factories. Village people may be well off, but
they are not educated enough to know a combination like
this could be harmful. |
More
village scene ... |
More
agriculture ... |
Now
we have a small city. Foreign investments from HK and
Taiwan give birth to lots of small cities like this one.
You can see there is almost only factories in such cities. |
More
factories ... boring |
What
is so special about this PIC? See the mushroom-like trees
under the highway? They are lychee trees. Very cute. |
Ok,
end of Kam's lychee trip log. Hope you enjoyed. If there
is time for more eating trip, Kam definitely will share
it with you. See ya.
